DanceFlow
For Argentine tango schools

Software for Argentine tango schools

Classes that need as many leaders as followers, a milonga every week, and couples who take privates together. DanceFlow was made for ballroom studios first, and partner dancing is what it knows best.

What it runs on

What a tango school runs on, and where it lives in DanceFlow

Each row is something a tango school does every week, beside the part of DanceFlow that does it today.

What you run In DanceFlow
Classes balanced by role
Leader and follower caps on each class, each side with its own waitlist, and a minimum to run that cancels a thin class in good time and tells everyone on it.
The weekly milonga
A party with a door: member, student, guest and couple prices, the room limit and walk-ins, repeated every week on the studio's own clock.
Practicas
A practica is a weekly class with its own register, drop-in price and packages.
Couples
A couple keeps both people's own profiles; a lesson for two counts for both, and one package can serve the pair.
Visiting teachers and festival weekends
Two teachers on one lesson for a visiting couple, workshops on your public schedule, and a weekend as a camp with its own timetable, packages and private lesson slots.
Privates
Private lessons booked into each teacher's own availability, packages with lessons left, and notes that carry forward to the next lesson.
A week

A week at a tango school

Classes, the practica, privates and the milonga, in one place.

  1. Monday

    Beginners course

The new course fills by role. When followers outnumber leaders, the extra followers wait on their own list and are offered a place as leaders enrol.

  2. Wednesday

    Practica

Regulars use their pack, newcomers pay the drop-in price, and the register keeps both.

  3. Thursday

    Privates

A couple preparing a performance takes two privates from the one package they share, and the teacher's note from last time is open before they walk in.

  4. Saturday

    Milonga

The door lets members in free when their plan includes it, charges couples the couple price, and says Full at the room limit.

  5. Sunday

    The visiting teachers

A weekend of workshops runs as a camp: its timetable, its passes, and private lesson slots dancers book themselves, some of them from other schools.

Ballroom first

Made for ballroom first, and why that helps a tango school

Ballroom is partner dancing, and DanceFlow was built around the partnership: who leads, who follows, who dances with whom and who pays for whom. A tango school gets all of that without workarounds.

  • Couples, dance partners and the packages they share are records of their own.
  • Leaders and followers are a setting on every class, not a note in the margin.
  • A milonga, a practica and a festival weekend are three things DanceFlow already runs.
What matters most

The parts that matter most to a tango school

Each one opens the page that goes deeper.

For studio owners The schedule, the money and the people, for whoever runs the school. Students and families Dancers book, enrol and see what is left on their package. For teachers Each teacher's week and lesson mode, with last time's note. Independent teachers For the tango teacher who works alone or teaches at several schools. Every feature Every feature in one list, with what is still to come.
Honest notes

What it does not do yet

What DanceFlow does not do for a tango school today, said plainly.

  • Not there yet: Partner rotation in class is not recorded. The register knows who came and which role they dance, not who danced with whom.
  • Not there yet: There is no tanda and cortina planner. The rounds a party can plan are built for ballroom practice rounds, not for a tango DJ's night.
  • Not there yet: The style filter on the public schedule uses DanceFlow's ballroom style list, where Argentine tango falls under Social and Nightclub.
  • Not there yet: Paying online needs your own Stripe account. Without it, the door takes the money at the studio and records it.
Questions

Common questions

Can DanceFlow keep leaders and followers even in a class?

Yes. Switch on Leader and follower balance in Settings › Lessons, then set the caps on each class. When one side is full, the next dancer on that side waits on its own list while the other side keeps booking.

How do we run the milonga door?

Open the milonga on the schedule and press Open the door. Admit a student or add a walk-in, switch to Couple to let two in at the couple price, and the door counts who is in against what the room holds. A membership plan can include it.

Can a couple share one package?

Yes. A lesson for the two of them takes one credit from the pair's package, or one from each when the lesson type says each pays, and one partner can pay for the other's own lessons too.

Can visiting teachers run a weekend with us?

Yes. A workshop weekend runs as a camp with its own timetable, coaches, packages and private lesson slots, and dancers from other schools can join from its public link.

Is DanceFlow only for ballroom studios?

It was made for ballroom first. The classes, milongas, couples and privates a tango school runs on are part of the same product and the same plan, and what is not built yet is on this page. See pricing.
