DanceFlow
For Lindy Hop, West Coast Swing and swing schools

Software for swing dance schools

Courses by the term, a social dance with a band or a DJ, and workshop weekends that bring dancers from other cities. DanceFlow was made for ballroom studios first, and swing's mix of classes, socials and partners fits it closely.

A week

A week at a swing school

The term, the social and a workshop weekend, in one place.

  1. Monday

    Week one of the term

Lindy Hop 1 and 2 begin. Dancers who missed enrolment are on each course's waitlist, and a freed place is offered to the next in line.

  2. Tuesday

    West Coast Swing

Three leaders cancelled in time, so each has a make-up to use in another class at the same level.

  3. Thursday

    Practice night

A weekly class with drop-ins and packs, and a register that keeps who came.

  4. Friday

    The social

The band's night has a price per person and per couple, and members whose plan includes socials get in free.

  5. Weekend

    Workshop weekend

Dancers from other cities register from the camp's public link and choose a pass, and the timetable shows each level group where to be.

Ballroom first

Made for ballroom first, and why that helps a swing school

Ballroom studios have always taught East Coast Swing and Jive, with classes, socials and privates under one roof. DanceFlow was built around that mix, with partners and packages taken seriously.

  • Partners, couples and who pays for whom are records, not notes.
  • Make-ups, trial classes and a minimum to run are rules you set once.
  • For dancers who compete, a competition trip keeps who is going, what each owes and the checklist.
What matters most

The parts that matter most to a swing school

Each one opens the page that goes deeper.

For studio owners Terms, socials and money, for whoever runs the school. Students and families Dancers enrol, use their make-ups and see what they owe. For teachers Each teacher's classes and privates, and lesson mode. Switching to DanceFlow Bring dancers, terms and balances over from a spreadsheet. Every feature Every feature in one list, with what is still to come.
Honest notes

What it does not do yet

What DanceFlow does not do for a swing school today, said plainly.

  • Not there yet: Partner rotation in class is not recorded. The register knows who came and which role they dance.
  • Not there yet: A large exchange with hundreds of dancers, housing requests and passes by role is more than a camp is built for. A camp suits a school's own workshop weekend.
  • Not there yet: The style filter on the public schedule uses DanceFlow's ballroom style list, so Lindy Hop and Balboa live in each class's name rather than in the filter.
  • Not there yet: Paying online needs your own Stripe account. Without it, dancers pay at the studio or the door, and every payment is still recorded.
Questions

Common questions

Can dancers enrol for a whole term?

Yes. Set How classes are sold in Settings › Lessons to by the term, or both. A dancer enrolled for the term has a place held in every class still to come, and the billing run invoices unpaid term fees together.

How do make-ups work?

Under Make-up classes you choose how many a term dancer gets, when they expire, and where they can be used: the same class, any class at the same level, or any group class. A dancer earns one by cancelling before your notice window or being marked absent.

Can we run a workshop weekend for dancers from other cities?

Yes. A camp has its own timetable, level groups, coaches and packages, and a public link where dancers from other schools register and choose a pass. When it is full, the next dancer goes on the waitlist.

Can we keep leaders and followers even?

Yes. Switch on Leader and follower balance in Settings › Lessons and set the caps on each class. A full side waits on its own list while the other keeps booking.

Is DanceFlow only for ballroom studios?

It was made for ballroom first. The terms, socials, workshop weekends and partners a swing school runs on are part of the same product and the same plan, and what is not built yet is on this page. See pricing.
