DanceFlow
For students and families

A studio app students and parents are glad to open

Students want to know when their next lesson is and how many they have left. Parents want to know what they are paying for. Both are free in DanceFlow, and both see only what the studio chooses to share.

What it fixes

For parents in particular

The old way With DanceFlow
  • The old way: Two children, two schedules, one calendar on the fridge

With DanceFlow: One parent portal with every child you are linked to: schedules, balances, invoices and messages.

  • The old way: Paying for lessons you never hear about

With DanceFlow: When the studio shares them, progress, certificates and lesson recaps for each child.

  • The old way: Competition results scattered across websites

With DanceFlow: Results for your children in one place, when the organizer publishes them, with the choice to show their name as withheld on public results.

In practice

A week of lessons, from the student's side

  1. Sunday evening

    What is on this week

The next lesson and the ones after it, with the teacher and the time, and what is left on the package.

  2. Monday

    Asking for an extra lesson

Request a time in a few taps. The studio or the teacher confirms it, and it appears on the schedule.

  3. Wednesday

    Something came up

Cancelling shows the studio's notice period, whether this one counts as late, and the policy in the studio's own words, before you confirm.

  4. Thursday

    After the lesson

Where the studio shares recaps, what you worked on and what to practice is in your lesson diary, with any video or practice track your teacher linked.

  5. Friday

    Paying and asking

Pay an invoice online where the studio accepts cards, or see how to pay them otherwise. Message the studio or your teacher in the same app.

In detail

Everything a student checks, in one place

The next lesson and the ones after it, what is left on their package and when it expires, invoices to pay, and messages and announcements from the studio. Requesting a lesson is a few taps, and the studio confirms it.

  • On iPhone, on the web, or installed from the browser
  • The studio's policies and handbook where students can find them
  • Rate a lesson, and the studio can reply

Progress, when the studio switches it on

Studios decide what students see. With progress on, a student sees where they stand dance by dance, the goals their teacher shared, a certificate for each level passed, their season plan, and a diary of lesson recaps with what to practice.

One login for the family

A parent or guardian gets their own portal with every child they are linked to: schedules, balances, invoices, results, and progress where the studio shares it. The studio invites them with a code, so a child's record only reaches the people the studio has connected to them.

  • A teacher's private notes are never shown to a student or a parent
  • A child's own notes are never shown to a parent
  • Competition results for the family, when the organizer publishes them
Phone and desk

Where it works

On the phone

  • The iPhone app
  • Or install it from your phone's browser
  • Requests, messages and the schedule in your pocket

At the desk

  • Any web browser on a laptop or desktop
  • Invoices and policies that are easier to read on a big screen
  • The same account as on your phone
Who sees what

Privacy, in plain words

A student's record is about a person, often a child, so the defaults lean closed.

Student-facing features
Progress, certificates and recaps are all off until the studio switches them on.
A teacher's private notes
Never shown to a student or a parent.
A child's own notes
Never shown to a parent.
Parents
Only the children the studio has connected them to, using a code from the studio.
Public competition results
A dancer, or their guardian, can have their name shown as "Withheld". The placing stays, so nobody else's result changes.
Getting started

Getting started

  1. Your studio gives you a code

Students and parents each get their own ten-character code, so a child's record reaches only the people the studio connected.

  2. Create your account

On the iPhone app or the web. It is free.

  3. Enter the code

Your schedule, packages and messages appear. A parent sees each linked child.

Questions

Common questions

Do students pay for the app?

No. The student and parent portals are free.

Can students book lessons themselves?

They request a time, and the studio confirms it. Studios that want an open booking page can turn one on.

What if a student dances at two studios?

One account works at both, and each studio sees only its own lessons and records.

Will I get text or email reminders?

If your studio has switched them on. Email and text reminders are built, and each studio decides whether it sends them. Texts come only once you add a mobile number and agree to them, and every email has an unsubscribe link. Reminders also arrive as notifications in the app.

Can I read the studio's policies before I sign up?

If the studio marks its policies public, yes: they are readable on a public page before anybody creates an account.
