The short answer

There is no standard price. On the forms we read on 5 November 2026, an amateur couple at the USA Dance National DanceSport Championships paid $20 to $35 a dance, a Pro-Am single dance cost $25 to $60, a spectator seat cost $30 to $400 a session, and the one published hotel block was $260 a night plus tax. These are typical published prices; they vary by event, by city and by how early you enter.

The entries are only part of the bill: travel, the hotel, meals, tickets and coaching come on top, and in Pro-Am the teacher's fee and travel share. The calculator below adds them up.

Pro-Am entries

Pro-Am entries are priced per dance at most US competitions: $25 to $60 for a single dance on the forms we read, plus the teacher's fee. The Pro-Am cost guide has the table. Most of these competitions are NDCA-sanctioned. DanceFlow is not NDCA-sanctioned, and each organiser sets its own fees.

Admission and tickets

Competitors may need a ticket too: Capital Dancesport's form says its entry fees do not include admission to the ballroom, while the Yankee Classic lets youth competitors in free during the sessions they dance in.

Hotel and travel

Large competitions take a block of rooms at the venue hotel. The United States Dance Championships publishes its rate, $260 a night plus tax, and charges $20 more per entry to dancers who book outside the block. The other forms we read gave no rate. Travel depends on where you live; the calculator has a field for it.
