What it is
The British DanceSport Federation describes itself as the national WDSF member for Great Britain, representing British athletes and adjudicators in WDSF events. WDSF lists it as a full member since 25 October 2024, not recognised by the British Olympic Association.
It took over a role that had changed hands several times. WDSF expelled DanceSport Scotland and DanceSport Wales in May 2022, and DanceSport England, the previous member, resigned before BrDSF was accepted.
Members
Membership is individual: athletes of all ages and disciplines, and adjudicators. It covers Standard and Latin and other WDSF disciplines such as breaking. It does not publish a member count that we could find.
Competition system
Members can be entered in WDSF international competitions, World and European Championships and GrandSlam events, which follow WDSF's rules and need a WDSF athlete licence. Most domestic competitions in Great Britain run under the British Dance Council's grades and licences.
Main events
Its site lists events for its members; we have not found a published list of domestic championships it runs itself.
How it is governed
Its public pages do not describe its governance in detail. Check its website for its current officers and constitution.
Official links
We do not print the names of current presidents or board members, because they change. The links above go to the federation's own list.
This page is an independent summary written from the body's own published sources. DanceFlow is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sanctioned by it.
